What's behind the yellow door?
Behind a yellow wooden door, in an old farm building, lies a hive of activity that is our tailoring business, Tanderra Canvas.
14 years ago when I moved to Zambia, I met Lenny. Unsatisfied with her current job, Lenny let slip that she was a dab hand on a sewing machine. Thanks to Chucky's Granny Col and the donation of her old Elna, Lenny started whipping up some pretty cool seat covers, uniforms, and spanner rolls. Fast forward 14 years and the addition of Matildah, Precious, Jenipher, Vivian and some very cool industrial sewing machines and overlockers, Tanderra Canvas is supplying high quality products to the Zambian community and earning the tailors an income that feeds and schools over 20 dependents.
We're branching out a little these days as well. We've started importing authentic African cloths like mud cloth and indigo cloth, and making throw cushions. We've also created an amazingly handy feeding scarf for breastfeeding mumma's and want to branch out into our own custom printed materials for bedlinen in the 2021. So watch out for Tanderra Canvas created products to be launched right here on the Eden Found website.
